Since
its inception in 1985, Home Remedies has pioneered the development,
implementation, and dissemination of home-based, family-centered
services in North Carolina. The program currently offers an array
of in-home services aimed at strengthening and maintaining families.
- Home Remedies
provides Intensive Family Preservation
Services (IFPS) in five North Carolina counties. IFPS offers
four-to-six weeks of intensive counseling and support in the
homes of families with children at imminent risk of being placed
in foster care or in juvenile or psychiatric institutions.
- In two
North Carolina counties, Home Remedies administers Restoring
Families, a reunification program. Restoring Families provides
up to six months of services with the goal of reuniting parents
and children who have been separated due to parental substance
abuse.
- The most
recent addition to Home Remedies is Catawba
Valley Healthy Families (CVHF). CVHF is affiliated with
Healthy Families America and provides up to three years of home
visiting services to overburdened, first-time parents of newborns.
- In addition
to its direct services component, Home Remedies offers a variety
of training and support services
for human service agencies. These include curriculum development,
staff training, program development, and consultation. Home
Remedies is an active member of the NC DSS Children's Services
Statewide Training Partnership.
